CBS Releases First Supergirl Trailer – We’re Excited!
This fall CBS is entering into the superhero game with Supergirl. The show, which stars Melissa Benoist, follows around Superman’s cousin as she embraces who she is and sets off on a journey to become Supergirl. Yesterday CBS released an extended trailer and boy did it pack a punch.
It starts off by showing Kara Zor-El as an awkward girl in her twenties. It’s not until her sister is in danger that she decides to use her powers. From there it looks like she fully embraces it and even dawns the cape and costume. For you comic book fans there were a lot of little Easter eggs throughout the trailer. First, it looks like we will be getting to see Jimmy. . . err James Olsen in action. There was also a subtle hint at a future Toyman and Cyborg Superman.
They also revealed, in a series of quick cuts, Dean Cain and Helen Slater. Dean Cain played superman in the 90s on the show Lois and Clark. Helen Slater played Supergirl in the 80s and as Superman’s mom in the show Smallville. It will be interesting to see what roles they will be playing, but by the looks of it they will be the adoptive parent figures of Kara.
The trailer does a good job of showing you just enough to get excited about the show, without giving you too much. It looks like the show will be on the lighter side with some RomCom elements thrown in there. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself.
