So Long, Agent – One Of The MCU’s Most Important Characters Has Officially Been Cancelled
After receiving less than stellar ratings during its second season, Agent Carter has been given her cards.
Despite the best efforts of the series’ cast and crew, ABC has officially decided to cancel its follow-up series to Captain America: The First Avenger effectively ending the adventures of Steve Roger’s best girl.
Even though the critically acclaimed series garnered a cult following during its relatively short two season run, that was not enough to save the series when it came time for the network to decide which series got to stay and which ones got the ax. The series executive producer Tara Butters even went so far as to enlist Agent Carter’s loyal fans in tweeting out their support for the series with the hashtag #RenewAgentCarter.
Unfortunately, that last ditch effort was in vain, and with the Agents of SHIELD spin-off, Marvel’s Most Wanted, also being shelved, it looks like Marvel’s future on the small screen may be in jeopardy.

This Could Be The End
Fans were obviously none too pleased with the verdict, especially considering how the series’ second run ended. (SPOILERS AHEAD) The last time fans saw Peggy, a mystery character not only shot Chief Jack Thompson but stole some very sensitive documents that could end Agent Carter’s career. Thanks to the character’s appearances on the big screen later on in the MCU timeline, audiences can assume everything worked out for the best, but may never know just how Peggy got herself out of that jam.

A Reasonable Reaction
With all of the success Marvel has been having on the cyber screen, fans can still hope that the studio will decide to continue the adventure via a slightly different medium. Until then, fans can at least rest assured that odds are they probably haven’t seen the last of the MCU’s greatest lipstick wearing hero.
