Hobbit Day 2017
Greetings Space Cadets, today is Hobbit Day, the celebrate the birthday of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. Both were said to be born on September 22, but of different years. Bilbo was born in the year of 2890 and Frodo in the year of 2968 in the Third Age (1290 and 1368 respectively by Shire-Reckoning.)
Hobbits were known for their many well-stocked pantries, as was made known on the first page of The Hobbit. Make sure that your festivities include a good amount of food – either a large meal or various snack foods.
And don’t forget to have a special cake. As well as all the other scrumptious food, don’t forget that Hobbit Day is also a birthday party for Bilbo and Frodo. Make or purchase a special birthday cake with two candles (one for each hobbit). For fun, you might toast the Bagginses and make little speeches in their honour.
“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”

“Today is my one hundred and eleventh birthday!”
“Alas, eleventy-one years is far too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable hobbits. I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
