The Last Caretaker | Ep. 1 – Maintaining the End of the World, One Task at a Time

🌊 A World Left Behind

A brand-new series begins… and not with a bang, but with the quiet hum of machines still clinging to purpose at the end of everything.

This time, we step into something different—a role that feels equal parts guardian, engineer, and reluctant saviour. The world is gone, swallowed by water and silence, but something remains. Systems still flicker. Structures still stand. And somehow, it’s up to us to keep it all running… or at least try to.

Welcome to The Last Caretaker—where survival isn’t just about staying alive… it’s about making sure humanity still has a future.

⚙️ About the Game

The Last Caretaker drops us into a drowned Earth where the remnants of civilisation float, rust, and wait.

This is a first-person survival-crafting adventure, but it carries a heavier purpose than most. You’re not just scavenging to survive—you’re restoring systems, maintaining infrastructure, and nurturing what may be the final hope for humanity: preserved human seeds.

You’ll build, repair, explore, and defend what remains. From abandoned towers to drifting platforms and oil rigs, every structure has a story—and a function waiting to be brought back online.

And ultimately? The goal is nothing short of launching humanity back into the stars.

🧭 Where We Are in the Journey

This episode kicks things off in an unusual way.

While the series begins here, the save file doesn’t. We jump in from a mid-game position—an off-stream progression—but circle back to the starting location to walk through the essentials. That means you’re not missing out.

Instead, you get the best of both worlds: a guided introduction to the mechanics and systems, alongside a glimpse of what lies further ahead once things start moving.

Think of this as both a tutorial… and a preview of the road ahead.

🔧 What Happens in This Episode

This first episode leans into discovery and purpose.

We begin by revisiting the basics—getting familiar with how the world works, how systems are restored, and how to manage the delicate balance between survival and maintenance.

But once we cast off, things shift.

We set sail across the open water toward a northern communication tower—one of many silent sentinels waiting to be reawakened. Bringing it back online feels like flipping a switch in a forgotten world… a signal that something is still alive out here.

From there, it’s onward to an oil rig—another vital structure needing attention. These locations aren’t just landmarks—they’re lifelines. Restoring them brings stability back to a fractured system.

And then comes the moment that changes everything.

We head to the launch pad.

Here, the purpose of it all becomes clear. A human seed is prepared… and sent beyond the broken world into the vast unknown of space. It’s a quiet, powerful moment—one that reminds you exactly what you’re working toward.

And let’s just say… we may also catch a glimpse of something during launch that we weren’t meant to see.

🌌 Until Next Time

The world may be broken… but it isn’t gone.

Not yet.

As long as the systems still hum, as long as the towers can be restored, and as long as even one seed can be sent skyward—there’s still a future worth fighting for.

I’ll see you out there, caretaker.
