Greetings Space Cadets, today I received a message from Little Miss that they have finally demolished the Silverlink TravelHole hotel that I used to work at. I can’t imagine that it took much knocking down as it was in a horrific state long before they went into administration and announced we were in the list for closing.
Unfortunate the Travelodge management never learned from their mistakes after betting in to £2.5bn in debt and going into administration none of the incompetent management there removed, and when Goldman Sachs and other investor came in to buy the debt the Travelodge management that courses all the problem went striate back to wasting money, back to ‘Big Events’ & ‘Little Events’ these are 3 day Travelodge paid for binge at expensive venues for all the management and assistant managers. And while the clueless out of touch management where drunk all the hotel staff are hard at work ridiculously undermanned under constant fret form drunken guests, and under constant fret form management and there favourite thing ‘disciplinary’ it gives the children that they employ as management power trips, because if you do not deal with the violent abusive guests that the management didn’t want to deal with during the day they pull out the ‘disciplinary’, and I know you say call the police but they don’t want to know, they have real crime to deal with and they did not want to let use evict them as once they are on the street they become the policies problem and hey did not want to deal with it, then the next day the management would let them back in undermining you and giving the violent guests (guest is a forbidden in Travelodge word as it suggests that you want them there) freedom to do want ever they want. This is an extreme case management would give out ‘disciplinary’ for anything that they could make up. There was two in particular that loved this, Tom and Steph. Tom liked making up the stories and Steph the lapdog followed him. Steph was terrible another prime example of Travelodge management, uneducated got in to the job as her mother was a manager, got pregnant to one of the higher up managers that were married and with kids of his own and as a reward she was promoted to manager, and the power went to her incompetent, uneducated head, she rejoiced in giving out disciplines and would give out the letters with an ear to ear grin. Toms appointment was not much better he was another brown noser that was given the job for being in the in-crowd with the managing.
On a side note, it is Travelodge company policy to lie to guests and blame all the faults on everything that points the blame away from Travelodge and we reserve memos from head office explaining the lies to use. I have often wondered what happened to the list of people they did not contact about our closing as when we left there were still loads of bookings for the Great North Run 2014 and no room for these people. This leads me to talk about an example of how much Travelodge cared for there staff, I remember when we had all the snow storms and we got a 7 page memo that on the cover said it would discuss the Travelodge stance on getting to and from work in the storms it then went on for the 7 pages on all the ways and things you had to do to try and get in to work before you could call in that you could not get in, and it never for back to the part if you where stuck at the hotel trapped by the snow, it was just your shift is done get out, no offer of an offline room no help at all, disgraceful. Then when the Travelodge got involved with a charity and had an officially backed charity that Travelodge they took a percentage from the charity takings for collecting money, they had the nerve to send a memo to all staff saying that for the launch of the charity it was compulsory for all staff to put money in, No, Just No.
But let’s move on I could go on for hours, and I still have evidence in form of documentation and witness statements of their Travelodge bullying. The Silverlink Travelodge is gone finally demolished the Bulldozers have moved in to make way for new development, and apparently which will create around 175 construction jobs and 300 retail positions over 106,000sq ft divided into four units, quite the difference from the 5 of use in the hotel slaving away working ourselves to death doing the jobs of 20. The plans also include additional car parking facilities, enhanced landscaping, improvements to access routes into the park, the widening of footpaths around the site and road improvements in the area.
It was not all bad I did get to have fun with girls on hen nights and lots of the staff I worked with where good people and you can check out some fun and some not so fun photos from my time here.
I have to say that I am so pleased that I am so pleased to be out of there, now working at IT manager, chief programmer and web developer for a company and group of people that appreciate my skills and are a pleasure to work together with. I also have my own business my own clients, my photography and YouTube Channel, the good side of being made redundant by the TravelHole.
