Fallout 4 | Ep. 46 – Nuka-World: Still Not the Vacation I Was Promised

⚠️ Back Into the Chaos

Back to Nuka-World… again. And somehow, it’s just as hostile, unpredictable, and deceptively inviting as ever. The kind of place that promises neon lights and bottled nostalgia—but delivers ambushes, radiation, and things that absolutely should not be alive.

This episode starts with a clear goal in mind… and immediately proves that in the wasteland, plans are more of a suggestion than a rule. What should have been a quick return trip spirals into a tangled journey across the Commonwealth before we even set foot back in Nuka-World.

🌍 About the Game

Fallout 4 throws you into a post-apocalyptic wasteland as the Sole Survivor of Vault 111. The world is broken, dangerous, and filled with factions all vying for control—but every decision you make shapes what comes next.

From scavenging ruins to battling mutated horrors, survival is never guaranteed. Whether you build, fight, or negotiate your way through the wasteland, one thing is certain—every step forward comes at a cost.

🧭 Where We Are in the Journey

By Episode 46, we’re deep into the Nuka-World DLC—well past the introduction and firmly entrenched in the business of carving out territory and dealing with the consequences.

Last time, we cleared the inside of the World of Refreshment bottling plant. This time, the focus is supposed to be finishing the job outside… and dealing with the Nukalurk Queen lurking in the depths. But first, there’s unfinished business back in the Commonwealth—and that’s where things start to unravel.

🔥 What Happens in This Episode

The night begins with a simple objective: head to Nuka-World and deal with the Nukalurk Queen. Clean, efficient, done. That was the plan.

Instead, three lingering radiant quests pull us back into the Commonwealth. The idea is solid—clear them out, turn them in, and avoid getting dragged into another endless loop of gang errands. In practice? It becomes a sprawling detour that eats up far more time than expected.

Andrew Station is the first stop, and what should have been a straightforward job quickly turns into a drawn-out ordeal. After collaring the target and clearing the area, we’re left staring at a keypad door with no obvious solution. What follows is a frustrating scavenger hunt—checking corners, retracing steps, even consulting AIDA—only for the code to remain stubbornly out of reach. Eventually, the mystery is left behind, another unsolved thread in the wasteland’s endless tangle.

From there, the action shifts to Diamond City, where precision becomes key. Rather than triggering chaos, the target is carefully pushed to the end of a corridor before being taken out quietly. It’s a rare moment of controlled execution in an otherwise messy night.

The final task proves to be the most absurd. Meeting up with the team is easy enough—but reaching the targets? That’s another story. What follows is a prolonged and increasingly ridiculous search for a way onto a motorway. Backtracking, circling, scanning for a slip road that never seems to exist… until finally, the realization hits. The objective wasn’t above at all—it was down on the ground the entire time.

With the quests finally complete, it’s time to regroup. Power Armor is repaired, supplies checked, and at last—after nearly an hour and a half—we return to Nuka-World.

Back at the World of Refreshment, the real fight begins. The Nukalurk Queen awaits, surrounded by her smaller, equally aggressive brood. The strategy starts cautiously—take out the smaller threats first—but the Queen spots us early and begins to close in.

Then, something strange happens.

Whether it’s a lingering effect from last week or a glitch in the wasteland itself, the Queen and her minions suddenly stop advancing. Frozen mid-threat, they become sitting targets. It’s a bizarre twist—one that turns a potentially brutal fight into a controlled execution. Explosive rounds tear through the stalled enemies, and the Queen falls without the chaos she promised.

With the area cleared, the territory is handed over to The Operators, solidifying control and pushing progress forward.

There’s just enough time for a bit of exploration to the north, but fatigue begins to creep in—both in-game and out. Deathloops start to mount, momentum slows, and the decision is made to call it for the night.

As the stream winds down, the adventure carries on elsewhere with a raid into allhisglory, sending the energy of the wasteland into another corner of the Twitch universe.
