Robin Sachs 1951-2013
Greetings Space Cadets, today I bring some sad news the Legend that is Robin Sachs has passed away.
“Thinking about some past missions. Got a minute? You might learn something.”
– Zaeed Massani
He had many memorable roles from film, television, and video games. These included Galaxy Quest, The Lost World, Buffy, Babylon 5, where he got to work with one of my favourite writers J. Michael Straczynski and another late great actor Andreas Katsulas, and of course is role in my favourite XBOX series Mass Effect where he played Zaeed Massani.
Back in 2010 I got to meet Robin Sachs at a convention celebrating the works of Josh Whedon, and I got the opportunity to chat with him in the hotel bar on the opening night. I had my Canon 50D with me as I was photographing the convention, and he came over to me and we started talking about my cameras and we got into conversation as to who had the better camera as I work with canon gear and he is a Nikon man. We chatted for some time then the following morning after breakfast he spotted me again calling out ‘Canon Man‘ he then proceeded to tease me every time he spotted me for the entire weekend, when it was my turn to have my photo taken with him I couldn’t keep a strait face as he was winding me up as he spotted me coming and I remember him calling me out as he grabbed me for me photo ‘This is a Man Photo’, making me laugh more unable to keep a strait face. Then when I got his autograph I had half expected him to write ‘Canon Man‘ across it.
Robin Sachs was an awesome character and had such a presence, no one could have brought the character he played to life the way he did so in closing lets take a little look at some of his roles…
You can also find some of my photos of Robin Sacks here, I know there are some issues with some of these galleries when I moved from my old site to this site but I will make sure all his photos are repaired this week, as I know some other sites have been taking them for there articles I don’t mined you using them just remember to credit me for them.
