Outbound | Ep. 1 – Warm Lights, Open Roads, Fresh Beginnings

The road finally opens up tonight as we begin an entirely new adventure in Outbound — a cozy off-grid survival road trip filled with warm sunsets, quiet exploration, and the kind of chaos that somehow always follows us wherever we go.

At least… that was the plan.

What actually unfolded was several hours of electric van disasters, broken bridges, chickens, parody songs, Stargate portals, chat descending into absolute madness, and somehow unlocking a secret Cheese World along the way. Which honestly feels like the perfect way to begin a brand-new series.

🌅 About the Game

Outbound is a relaxing open-world survival and exploration game where you slowly build a sustainable life on wheels. Instead of surviving against monsters or constant danger, the game focuses on freedom, creativity, exploration, and building the perfect camper van for life on the road.

You gather supplies, repair structures, discover blueprints, craft workstations, and generate your own power using renewable energy sources like solar panels and wind turbines. The entire experience leans heavily into cozy road-trip energy, with peaceful landscapes, slow journeys, and the freedom to travel wherever the road takes you.

Of course, once chat gets involved, even the calmest game imaginable somehow turns into complete chaos.

🛣️ Where We Are in the Journey

This stream marks the very beginning of our Outbound journey.

We started fresh with a brand-new save, created our character, customized our camper van, and took our first steps into the world. The opening hours were all about learning the systems, repairing damaged bridges, gathering resources, and beginning to transform our little van into a functioning mobile home.

It very much felt like the start of a long road trip — one where nobody really knows the route yet, but everybody’s excited to see where it leads next.

🔥 What Happens in This Episode

The stream kicked off with exactly the kind of energy longtime viewers would expect. Before Outbound even loaded properly, we opened the night with one of my ridiculous parody songs, “Let It Freeze,” which somehow turned into a dramatic anthem about freezing Scottish winters, broken heating systems, and emotionally exhausted chickens… despite the fact the entire country was currently melting in a heatwave.

Perfectly normal start to the evening.

Once we finally got into Outbound, chat immediately locked onto the camper van customization. Sadly there weren’t enough characters available for the van name I originally wanted, which meant “Bouncy Bouncy” and even “Bouncy” were both impossible. Naturally, this led us to the next best possible option: BOOBs proudly displayed across the registration plate while chat completely lost control.

From there, the road trip truly began.

We took things slowly, exploring the opening area while trying to relearn controls from the demo version I’d played months ago. The early game quickly became a wonderfully chaotic mix of scavenging supplies, setting up campsites, repairing damaged bridges, and repeatedly running out of electricity in the middle of nowhere because apparently managing an electric camper van is slightly harder than expected.

Three separate bridges were repaired throughout the journey as we slowly opened new paths forward, although every simple task somehow spiraled into another tangent. One moment we’d be collecting planks for repairs, the next chat would somehow be discussing war crimes, exploding harmonicas, giant tank models, or whether dead ends are “just better adventures.”

Completely standard livestream behaviour.

One of the best moments of the night came when my best friend Royal Tea (r0yalt3a) was able to stop by chat for a while. It genuinely made the stream feel even more relaxed and cozy while everyone settled into the start of this new adventure together.

And then things got even more derailed.

Midway through the stream, we paused Outbound entirely so I could show everyone a prototype Stargate-inspired retro game I’ve been developing for Transparent-Aluminium.net. Built with heavy Atari 2600 and ZX Spectrum vibes, the project quickly became its own accidental side adventure as chat encouraged me to keep playing “just one more level.”

What started as a quick showcase somehow evolved into a full demo involving procedurally generated worlds, suspiciously-shaped weapons, USB-stick characters travelling through portals, and eventually the discovery of the hidden Cheese World level.

Honestly, I’m not even sure how we got there anymore.

Meanwhile, chat itself had fully descended into beautiful madness. Pokémon hunting events collapsed into disaster, the Hunger Games simulator crowned Garydsteel as champion after murdering FlyingFox21 “in darkness,” and viewers somehow created entire roleplay scenarios involving workplace committees and leave request forms.

At one point the stream briefly transformed into a chicken appreciation broadcast after I introduced everyone to the newest baby chickens — Bang Bang, Popcorn, Crispy, and Scrambled — which instantly melted chat into collective emotional chaos.

By the end of the night, Outbound had become far more than just a survival game. It already felt like the beginning of a long-running road trip with friends: wandering roads under warm skies, getting distracted constantly, sharing projects, telling stories, and somehow making progress despite absolute nonsense happening every few minutes.

We wrapped things up after being raided by novzn_tv, before sending the love onward ourselves with a raid into kingironblood to continue the adventure elsewhere.

And honestly? For a first episode, it already feels like this road trip is going to become something special.
