Sniper Elite III | Ep. 9 – Target Hitler: Hunt the Grey Wolf DLC
One of the most iconic missions in the Sniper Elite series has finally arrived, and with the main campaign behind us, it was time to step into one of the game’s most legendary DLC missions. Target Hitler: Hunt the Grey Wolf promised stealth, precision, and one unforgettable target—but as always, the battlefield had other ideas.
What began as a carefully planned infiltration quickly descended into glorious chaos, with alarms blaring, ammunition running dangerously low, and chat cheering every near miss, desperate recovery, and ongoing hunt for the mythical perfect “plum shot.” It was exactly the kind of unpredictable livestream adventure that makes these sessions so memorable.

Sniper Elite III blends tactical stealth, open-ended mission design, and the series’ signature X-ray kill camera into the battlefields of North Africa during World War II. Every mission encourages players to choose their own approach, whether that means silent infiltration, long-range sniping, or adapting on the fly when everything inevitably goes spectacularly wrong.
Its expansive environments reward exploration and patience, but one careless mistake can turn an entire garrison into an army determined to hunt you down.
🧭 Where We Are in the Journey
With the main Sniper Elite III campaign now complete, this episode marks the beginning of the downloadable content adventures. We kick things off with Target Hitler: Hunt the Grey Wolf, before moving on to the upcoming three-part Save Churchill campaign.
For anyone joining the series here, this episode serves as a perfect transition into the game’s bonus missions while keeping the trademark Plum Hunters spirit alive—equal parts stealth, laughter, stubborn determination, and an almost unhealthy obsession with landing the perfect shot.
⚠️ What Happens in This Episode
The mission opened with our first steps into the occupied town, attempting a careful infiltration that lasted… well… not very long. One small accident quickly escalated into the entire town deciding we needed to be removed from existence immediately, forcing us into frantic firefights far earlier than planned.
After surviving that less-than-perfect introduction, another unexpected obstacle appeared. Reaching the upper area seemed like progress until we couldn’t work out how to actually continue. A fair bit of exploration followed before discovering the solution wasn’t another hidden route at all—it was simply an incredibly awkward interaction prompt on a door that demanded almost pixel-perfect positioning before finally allowing us inside.
From there the mission became a constant balancing act between stealth and survival. We gradually fought our way deeper through the town, occasionally stirring up another hornets’ nest along the way. With ammunition becoming painfully scarce, every encounter felt increasingly tense, making each successful fight feel like a genuine achievement rather than a clean tactical victory.
All of it ultimately built towards the evening’s main objective: eliminating one of history’s most infamous figures.
Naturally, this wasn’t going to be straightforward.
Rather than settling for an ordinary assassination, the entire stream became fixated on delivering one final legendary “plum shot.” The first attempt failed spectacularly, forcing us to eliminate the target as he escaped. Refusing to believe the opportunity didn’t exist, we reloaded a backup save and tried again. And again. And then several more times from different positions, convinced there had to be some hidden angle that would trigger the perfect X-ray kill.
The game, however, had other plans. Every opportunity seemed designed to deny that glorious cinematic payoff, whether because the target remained seated at awkward angles or sped away before the shot could land correctly. Eventually we accepted reality, lined up the clean headshot, and ended the mission the reliable way. If the plums couldn’t be claimed, at least justice was.
Throughout the stream, chat kept the atmosphere brilliantly entertaining. Running jokes about “Mr. Mustache,” theories about impossible shots, conversations drifting into entirely different games, and endless encouragement to keep chasing the elusive animation made every failed attempt feel even funnier instead of frustrating.
The evening also carried a more personal note, with updates about Crumble, my poorly chicken, whose condition had made for an understandably worrying day. That concern meant finishing a little earlier than usual, but not before wrapping up the DLC and looking ahead to whatever surprises Save Churchill has waiting next.
Of course, no Plum Hunters stream truly ends with the credits. We rounded off the night with our traditional Marbles on Stream Grand Prix where chaos reigned once again. One race somehow managed to eliminate absolutely everyone—”Everybody’s dead, Dave!”—while Mr. V somehow continued his remarkable winning streak despite accusations that the marbles were clearly conspiring in his favour.
Finally, we wrapped everything up by raiding across to Ashens, sending the community off to continue the evening elsewhere until the next mission begins.
