Duck Side of the Moon | Ep. 1 – A Cozy Little Trip to the Moon
The moon was supposed to be peaceful. Quiet skies, gentle exploration, cozy little duck adventures drifting through the stars. Instead, the very first moments of Duck Side of the Moon threw us headfirst into a crash landing aboard the gloriously doomed Dysentery Express, and from there the entire night unfolded into exactly the kind of chaotic comfort food stream that somehow fits perfectly on the channel.
After waiting nearly a year to finally dive into the game — with real life and illness delaying the launch stream more than once — finally stepping into this strange little lunar world felt genuinely special. What followed was a bizarre mix of cozy exploration, questionable engineering decisions, broken machinery, tea discussions, Minecraft nostalgia, exploding gadgets, and ducks trying desperately to survive in space.
🌌 About the Game
Duck Side of the Moon is a cozy sci-fi exploration adventure where you waddle, glide, and fly your way across strange lunar landscapes while scavenging resources, crafting gadgets, and helping the wonderfully odd creatures scattered throughout the galaxy.
There’s an unmistakable charm to the whole experience. Beneath the silly humour and chaotic inventions sits a surprisingly relaxing game full of exploration, discovery, and gentle progression. One minute you’re collecting materials and upgrading gadgets, and the next you’re trapped inside dangerous asteroid tunnels rescuing missing children while someone enthusiastically explains why launching a broken spaceship out of a catapult is somehow a good idea.
Naturally, it fits the stream perfectly.
🚀 Where We Are in the Journey
This episode marks the very beginning of the adventure — Episode 1 and our first real steps into the strange world of Duck Side of the Moon.
Doug and his AI companion arrive in spectacular fashion by immediately crashing the Dysentery Express onto the moon, kicking off what quickly becomes a journey filled with weird locals, damaged technology, suspiciously unsafe machinery, and increasingly questionable plans from a local named Billy.
By the end of the stream, we’d only just started scratching the surface of the game, reaching the town of Boogie and uncovering hints that this tiny cozy moon may be hiding a much larger adventure underneath all the chaos.
🔥 What Happens in This Episode
The night begins with excitement… and almost immediate confusion.
From the moment the ship crashes, Duck Side of the Moon wastes no time establishing its wonderfully cursed energy. Billy arrives full of enthusiasm and terrible ideas, while the game itself introduces one of the stream’s greatest enemies: the flight controls. For reasons known only to the developers, vertical movement is mapped to the shoulder buttons instead of the triggers, leading to repeated mid-air disasters and constant cries of “shoulder buttons!” echoing across the stream whenever flying inevitably went wrong. Attempts to remap the controls became their own side quest, but even the Xbox controller software refused to cooperate properly.
Thankfully, once the control-induced suffering settled into comedy, the game’s cozy atmosphere started to shine through.
As the adventure unfolded, we explored strange lunar tunnels, scavenged materials, crafted gadgets, cleaned up suspicious amounts of rubbish, and helped the bizarre residents scattered across the moon. Missing children trapped inside creepy asteroid caverns led to tense little exploration sections, while broken machinery and exploding inventions kept proving that Billy absolutely should not be trusted near anything mechanical.
Of course, that didn’t stop him from unveiling his “master plan” — catapulting the already damaged spaceship directly into another crash site somehow making the Dysentery Express even more broken than before while acting like this was a completely normal thing to do.
Outside the gameplay itself, the stream settled into classic Ravenholm chaos.
The community conversations drifted everywhere from biscuits, tea, and stolen cheese to hot chocolate debates and old channel memories. One tangent led into showing off the live map of the long-running Minecraft server hosted on a Raspberry Pi, including the VR showcase of the Pi Rail Network redstone system that’s been running for over six years. That naturally spiralled into revisiting the old garden streams featuring the pet chickens — and discussions about finally bringing those streams back again.
We also had some amazing community moments throughout the night with raids from both geekysquidoo, who had been streaming Misc. A Tiny Tale, and fellow COGG member kingironblood coming over from Minecraft. The stream eventually closed by passing the chaos onward with a raid into OurChickenLife.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, there were Pokémon minigame disasters in chat, debates about whether jokes need “a rest in Mordor,” and a proud reveal of the chicken tattoo earned after reaching the 1,000 follower milestone — which immediately led to chat discussing whether future milestones would require adding extra eggs to the design.
By the time the stream reached the town of Boogie, where Doug’s arrival had accidentally knocked out the local power grid, the game finally began opening up into something much larger. Mines filled with glowing vibe stones, mysterious new gadgets, expanding areas to explore, and hints of deeper adventures all started appearing on the horizon.
Even with awkward controls and constant distractions, Duck Side of the Moon delivered exactly the kind of weird, cozy sci-fi energy that makes for an unforgettable livestream night.

🚧 Closing Thoughts
The Dysentery Express may be barely holding together, the flight controls may still be trying to murder us, and Billy absolutely should not be trusted with explosives… but somehow this strange little moon already feels like home.
Until next time — keep the tea warm, watch the skies, and try not to crash into anything important.
