Construction Simulator | Ep. 38 – The Trains Are Coming. We Should Probably Build the Station
Minor issue: the trains are on their way, and the station they’re supposed to stop at is still little more than an ambitious construction site. That’s the sort of challenge that perfectly sums up Construction Simulator—where every straightforward contract has a habit of becoming a memorable adventure thanks to heavy machinery, unpredictable physics, and a community that’s always ready to laugh when everything goes spectacularly wrong.
In this episode, we finally begin the long-awaited Transport Links railway station project. What starts as a routine bit of site preparation quickly turns into an evening filled with clever discoveries, stubborn vehicles, and plenty of those classic Construction Simulator moments where the laws of physics seem more like gentle suggestions than actual rules.
🚆 About the Game
Construction Simulator puts you in charge of an ever-growing construction company, giving you access to more than 70 authentic machines as you tackle everything from small residential jobs to massive infrastructure projects. Whether you’re operating towering cranes, precision excavators, concrete mixers, or enormous dump trucks, every contract presents new logistical puzzles and opportunities to expand your business.
Its two expansive maps and varied contracts make every project feel different, while the wonderfully unpredictable vehicle physics often create unforgettable moments that no amount of planning could prepare you for. It’s exactly that blend of satisfying progress and unexpected chaos that keeps bringing us back for another shift.
🗺️ Where We Are in the Journey
Episode 38 marks the beginning of the Transport Links train station construction project, introducing one of the larger infrastructure jobs we’ve tackled in the series. Rather than immediately throwing up buildings, this episode focuses on the vital groundwork that makes everything else possible.
By the end of tonight’s stream, the site has been cleared, compacted, and excavated, leaving us perfectly positioned to begin the real construction work in the next episode. It may not sound glamorous, but every great station starts with a solid foundation—and ours certainly wasn’t going to build itself.
⛏️ What Happens in This Episode
The evening begins with a familiar sight: machinery scattered across the worksite and a brand-new contract waiting to be tackled. Before a single shovel can touch the ground, every piece of equipment has to be moved into position, with plenty of experimentation along the way as different loaders and excavators are tested to see which machines are actually up to the task. As always, theory and reality aren’t quite the same thing, leading to several return trips to the depot as we search for equipment that’s better suited to the job.
Once the site is organised, the topsoil finally begins disappearing. After clearing the area, the trusty soil compactor—affectionately known as the “jiggle”—comes out to prepare the ground properly before excavation begins. Rather than rushing ahead, this project is handled the right way from the very beginning, setting the stage for everything that follows.
With the groundwork complete, attention turns to excavating the foundation trench. Instead of taking the easy shortcut for disposing of excavated soil, we decide to transport every load ourselves in the giant dumper. Better still, we uncover a brand-new unloading location that finally allows the massive truck to tip its load safely without the headaches we’d experienced on previous contracts. That discovery proves to be well worth the effort, bringing in around £12,000 as load after load of soil is hauled away over the course of the evening. It’s one of those satisfying moments where persistence genuinely pays off.
Of course, this wouldn’t be Construction Simulator without the game reminding everyone that its physics engine has a unique interpretation of reality. Our enormous dumper somehow manages to become hopelessly stranded on what appear to be the tiniest bumps and dips imaginable, forcing the now-traditional “Deathloop” reset just to get back to work. The absurdity of watching one of the biggest vehicles on site defeated by terrain barely noticeable to the eye provided exactly the sort of comedy the community has come to expect.
Throughout the stream, chat kept the atmosphere lively as FlyingFox21 returned from a European holiday with a subscription, while familiar names including vvoornth, GaryDSteel, Stryker_500, Happy_Cat_Lady, and asmith501 filled the evening with stories, jokes, and plenty of friendly teasing whenever another vehicle found itself somewhere it clearly wasn’t supposed to be. Conversations drifted from Australian wildlife to films, geography, and game development before inevitably circling back to the infamous Construction Simulator bugs, including tales of machinery launching skywards and the ever-dreaded concrete pump looming ominously over future work.
By the close of the stream, the station site has been transformed. The topsoil is gone, the foundations have been excavated, and everything is finally ready for construction to begin properly next week. We even rounded off the evening by raiding into ArtsyCatsyBee, keeping the community spirit rolling long after the final bucket of soil had been delivered. The trains may still be coming—but at least now they’ll eventually have somewhere to stop.

Every construction site has its stories, and ours are never quite the same twice. Some evenings everything goes according to plan. Other nights a dump truck decides a tiny mound of dirt is an immovable mountain, the physics engine invents entirely new laws of nature, and chat spends the next half hour laughing while somehow still helping the project move forward.

🚉 Until Next Time
The foundations are finally in place, the station is beginning to take shape, and the biggest challenges are still waiting just over the horizon. Until next time, stay safe on site, keep the machinery pointing in roughly the right direction, and remember—around here, even the glitches become part of the story. I’ll see you on the next shift, and as always… thanks for being part of the journey.
